A promotional DVD made as part of a six week introduction to film making course with adults with learning disabilities at Gloucester Drop in Centre. The aim of the DVD is to promote the service to other adults with LD in the community.

The Drop-In is a service for people with learning disabilities and other vulnerable adults. The overall purpose of the Drop-In is for adults to get advice and support to live more independently and less reliant on traditional services. The Drop-In provides a safe informal environment where people can simply ‘drop-in and find out about activities and services available to them in the local area. The Drop-In staff will encourage people to ‘sign’ up to monthly activities which can enable social networks to develop. People can also just ‘pop’ in for a coffee and a chat.

Staff at the Drop-In can provide support with the following:

  • Housing bidding
  • Voluntary and paid work
  • Advice with emotional, practical and financial support
  • Completing forms
  • Access to computers and internet access
  • Develop social networks, make friends and try new activities
  • Educational workshop

Made in conjunction with Stroud-based Nikki Simpson (freelance film maker and photographer) with support of Gloucester Drop in and The National Star College. A similar service exists in Stroud – for more info 01453-757081 or 07824-361436 (mobile).
