Stroud Aagainst The Cuts write of this protest that saw Stroud folk join: At the March for the NHS on Saturday 12th March in Cheltenham, demonstrators heard from two Junior Doctors. Here one, Sarah – who works at Gloucester Royal Hospital – talks about why she is supporting the strike action against the government’s plans to impose a new contract of employment on doctors. The British Medical Association? has organised further strike action on April 6th-8th, and is threatening a full walkout on April 27th and 28th if the government continues to refuse to negotiate.

Doctors say that the new contract is unsafe for patients, and unfair for doctors. Many doctors are already leaving the UK, or the profession entirely, and it seems the new contract will only make things worse – pushing more people to use private healthcare and making our public services more attractive to those companies looking to take them over and make a profit from our ill health.
