Stroud Community TV was launched last year and has about 700 YouTube films uploaded that cover local businesses, community projects, history and more.

SCTV are now seeking nominations for films for the Stroud Community TV Awards 2012. There are 6 categories: Business, Film, Campaign, Community Project, Community Event and Music. A panel of star-studded film makers and media folk will vote for the winner in each category and Stroud Life will be publishing the list of winners in early February.

If you want to nominate a film then search this website and send your nominations by 27th January to; philip.booth2@virgin.net

You can nominate up to two films per category, but be sure to make clear which category you are entering the film. The 5 films with the most nominations in each category will go forward to the judging panel. In future years we will consider expanding the number of categories as it is clearly not easy to fit some films into any of the categories!

“I’m very honoured to be asked to help judge these awards. Stroud Community TV is a brilliant initiative and I’ve spent many an hour wandering around its selection of local films and videos, a great antidote to much mainstream telly!   But more than that SCTV provides a wonderful platform for such a variety of voices throughout the Valleys and as such is the best resource we have for a real picture of real people in Stroud.” Jimmy Edmonds, Film Editor/Photographer/Film maker based in Chalford Hill

SCTV is run not for profit by volunteers and is supported by Transition Stroud who are working to promote community resilience and a low carbon future.

All we need is the name of the film (or the web link address) and the category you wish to enter the fil. You can nominate up to 2 films per category ie 12 films in total, but most people are only nominating 2 or 3 films. Big thanks for your interest. If you include reasons that’s great but not necessary.
