Michael Powell from Avening, was one of the greats in British cinematic history.  He died in 1990 but in last week’s Stroud Life a great article appeared about him. One of English Heritage’s blue plaque has been unveiled in Marylebone in London to commemorate where he produced films – amongst the 50 films he made in partnership with Emeric Press burger were the 1940’s classics like ‘The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp’ and ‘Red Shoes’. The South Bank Show (full length) on film director Michael Powell, shown as a tribute shortly after his death in 1990 is available at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSnoaA9vOwc
There is also a playlist from YouTube of clips from his films: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLF664DF4E71FDEAFE
