Thirty years after his son was adopted Andrew Ward set out on a mission to resolve the past. In The Birth Father’s Tale he describes his search and illustrates how being a ‘birth father’ has affected his relationships with women, his career decisions, his choice of writing projects and his whole assembly of attitudes. This is a book due out June 2012 with BAAF publications about secrecy, shame and self-punishment, but it is also a book about wonderful friendships, amazing coincidences, and redemption.

‘An extraordinary, moving, and unusual account of a birth father’s life being defined by a years-long search for his son who was adopted at birth. Revealing and disturbing, it demonstrates the primal power of the blood link, and the need for a father to find his son.’
Jamila Gavin, Stroud resident and author of Coram Boy

Andrew Ward is the author of numerous books and an advocate of writing as therapy. Filmed by Stroud video-maker Nikki Simpson.
