5th April 2016 Wallbridge Lower Lock – Thames and Severn Canal

Tuesday and Thursday volunteer working parties continue the restoration. With the towpath closed to pedestrian access at present, it can be difficult to see what is really happening and the quality work being carried out, if you are standing outside the safety fencing.
The” Britain from the Air” website has incredible images of this area of Stroud, some showing working boats, and including Wallbridge Lower Lock in 1920 (image reference EPW001174) and in1928 (in flight AFL3181). Image EPW059690 from flight AFL3545 in September 1938 clearly shows the lock, Wallbridge basin and Lodgemore bridge.
