In 1936 No 6201, the 160-tonne locomotive, broke the world distance speed record by maintaining an average speed in excss of 70mph for more than 400miles between Glasgow and London – a steam world record that still stands today! Great to see this film by Pete4000uk; ‘LMS ‘Princess Elizabeth’ passes through Stroud on a Sunny October day. She is putting out more steam than smoke!’
