Quentin Clark writes: “Nemesis is the current land speed record holder for an electric vehicle. Thanks to Dale Vince, Founder and MD of Ecotricity for giving me a spin when I visited . It’s an amazing vehicle and I have to say a truly inspirational company!”

Stroud-based Ecotricity MD Dale Vince set the brief to create this car which has broken the UK  electric car land-speed record – reaching 151 mph. The existing record of 137mph was set by Don Wales, grandson of legendary speed-merchant Sir Malcolm Campbell. See more about it at:

In my view, promoting fast cars capable of excessive speed is a big mistake. We live in a culture where cars are popularly seen as toys and ego extensions – actually they are pollution machines (yes, even the electric ones) and are very dangerous unless used responsibly. Let’s promote safety and low energy use, not excessive speed and power and testosterone.
