UWICEurope and You made this film of Stroud’s Molly Scott Cato: The cost of using your mobile phone on business or on holiday abroad is being cut. From 1 July making a call in another European country will cost 19p and texts will cost 6p. Using email and the internet is being cut in half to about 20 pence per megabyte. The EU has been forcing down the prices because it believes mobile operators are being too greedy. The South West’s new Green MEP is back and forth to Brussels and Strasbourg and has already been surprised by the bills she has racked up. She says ultimately the costs should be the same as at home.
