Six hundred feet above Coniston Water, in the Lake District, and two miles from the nearest road is the near-derelict farmhouse of Lower Parkamoor. Without electricity or running water, it was the unconventional family holiday location for much of my childhood.

Returning years later, (just before the building was opened as an ‘artists’ retreat’) prompted this performance for camera. The highly personal journey is re-enacted in reverse and reconstructed through film. The work offers a meditation on time, memory and nostalgia through an act of psychological and physical retreat.

Directed, performed and edited by Chalford-based Dominic Thomas. Camera by Simon Poulter. 2007.
