Ian Redmond writes: “Looked out of my bathroom window the other day and saw this fine adult male roe deer munching in the meadow. He is just beginning to lose his winter coat – in places you can see how thick it is. Luckily I grabbed my video camera in time to see him take on a stray raspberry cane, rubbing the last vestiges of velvet off his antlers before eating the fresh leaves and bounding up the slope to browse on our gooseberry bushes. Nice start to the day even if it doesn’t bode well for our summer puddings!”
