CanalGreat film from Cotswold Canals of Saturday 27th June 2015: Six immaculate and elegant steam boats, owned by members of the Steam Boat Association of Great Britain, launch at Strachan’s Close, for a day trip to Stonehouse and return. Warm sunshine, steam whistles and polished brasswork made this a real day for “letting off steam” on the Stroudwater. A gathering crowd of towpath users followed the colourful flotilla as it locked down through Foundry lock and Dudbridge lock.  At the new canalside wharf development in Ebley, an even larger crowd was already waiting. After taking local refreshments, or brewing up tea on board, the boats assembled to then move off westward in convoy.  The new businesses and cafes in Ebley benefited from a surge of customers, as did the Cotswold Canals Trust new trip boat “ENDEAVOUR”. This section of restored waterway forms part of phase 1a of restoration of the Cotswold canals.
