The bustling Cotswold town of Stroud is home to a Farmer’s Market reputed to be the best in the Country with artisan bread, country cheeses, vegetables and “greens” like you haven’t seen since you were a kid all held in a traditional marketplace and spilling over into the surrounding streets, every Saturday morning. Stroud itself may be described as a “bohemian” town populated by “interesting” people. It is rather like Totnes in Devon and has attracted its fair share of “old hippies” (hope this is not going to offend anyone?). The valleys surrounding Stroud can be staggeringly beautiful on a sunny spring day and morbidly miserable in the rain and wind! Interesting street names like “Old Neighbourhood”, “Little Switzerland” and “Minchinhampton”!
