WWT Slimbridge write:

Counting birds, a new duck record and other stories. Ever tried counting a large flock of birds? This week we learn how the wardens accurately count thousands of birds at WWT Slimbridge. Unfortunately there are no magic tricks involved, just lots of patience! With the continuing mild weather bird numbers are remaining high on the reserve. In fact the wardens are celebrating a new record of 323 shoveler duck on the Reserve. In this Wildlife Weekly episode Martin also introduces the Little stint, a tiny wading bird which is an infrequent visitor here. The multimedia team were lent a slow motion camera this week which has given us some very interesting footage and we’ve included a clip this week. We hope you enjoy some wildlife when you are out and about this weekend. As always let us know your feedback and feel free to send in any footage you take here.
